TRANSIT SYSTEMS IN MICHIGAN
PRESENT AND PAST
ORGANIZED BY METROPOLITAN AREAS AND COUNTIES
A moderately urban state, which is less than sufficiently supportive of public transportation.
Outside the Detroit area, many electric railways in Michigan eventually became subsidiaries of Commonwealth Power Railway & Light Co., which finally disposed of its Michigan subsidiaries before coming under control of Commonwealth & Southern Corp. The Michigan Electric Railway Co. was the most notable interurban railway in the area, in addition to operating several city streetcar systems.
