Outside Baltimore, the three main streetcar systems in Maryland became owned by Potomac Edison Co., which continues to provide electricity to those areas. Potomac Edison Co. also operated some connecting interurban lines. From 1923 to 1948, Potomac Edison Co. was a subsidiary of American Water Works & Electric Co..
