TRANSIT SYSTEMS IN INDIANA
PRESENT AND PAST
ORGANIZED BY METROPOLITAN AREAS AND COUNTIES
A moderately urban state, where there is little support for public transportation.
Many electric railways in Indiana eventually came under ownership of Midland Utilities Co. or Midland United Co., controlled by Samuel Insull, who controlled many utilities and holding companies throughout North America. Prior to Insull control, several significant companies had emerged, operating interurban railways and local lines in the cities served.
